This. Too. Is Audacity: Choosing Healing & The Power of the Pause

Take a breath before reading.


This reflection is a space — intentionally held — for you to arrive exactly as you are.


As I reflect on the end of January and the unfolding of early February, I recognize how this season has reshaped me.


Not because it was easy. 

Not because it was light. 

But because it was real.


I witnessed my husband experience a medical emergency — moving from full presence to total loss of consciousness. His body limp. No communication. Uncertainty thick in the air.


Moments like that do not simply pass through you.


They reorganize you.


There is a kind of trauma that forms not from one singular event, but from layers — shock, fear, responsibility, love — and the confronting awareness of past misalignment, enabling, and delayed boundaries.


This experience created trauma I acknowledge — and I am consciously integrating.


Not by denying it. 

Not by spiritually bypassing it. 

But by allowing it to inform me without defining me.


That. Too. Is Audacity.


Audaciously Being the First to Put You… Me… First

Being the first to put yourself first is not avoidance.

It is not suppression. 

It is not performative strength.


It is regulated presence.


It is the willingness to feel fully — without being ruled by the feeling.


It is choosing gentle responsibility for your own well-BEing first.


This season reminded me that audacious living is not about perfection.


It is about alignment.


It is allowing fear, gratitude, disbelief, anger, exhaustion, and love to coexist — while still choosing to respond with intention.


“Life isn’t about what happens to you, but how you respond to what happens.”


In real time, there were moments of:


What the f is happening?


And then moments of clarity:


I know better now. 

And with that awareness, I choose differently.


This is not happening to me. 

It is refining me.


The Power of the Pause

What anchored me — and continues to — is the pause.


The pause is not passive. 

It is where power is reclaimed.


Through my 3-PAUSE Self-Check-In, I returned to center again and again:


Pause One: Awareness What am I feeling right now — without judgment?

Pause Two: Ownership What is mine to hold — and what is not?

Pause Three: Intention How do I choose to respond — aligned with my highest and best?


The pause interrupts reactivity.

The pause restores agency. 

The pause realigns identity.


From that space, I can do my best. 

Not yesterday’s best. 

Not tomorrow’s best. 

This moment’s best.


Aligned with the Fourth Agreement: Always do your best.


This is the living practice:


  • Feeling without fusing

  • Awareness without self-abandonment

  • Responsibility without self-blame


To live fully. 

To love deeply. 

To choose joy now — not someday.


A Gentle Activation

Life is happening now. 

Healing is happening now.

Choice is happening now.


You do not need certainty to pause. 

You do not need clarity to breathe. 

You need willingness.


Willingness to become aware. 

Willingness to take ownership. 

Willingness to choose again.


So wherever you are — steady, shaken, or somewhere in between — practice the pause.


Breathe.


Reclaim your power.


Respond intentionally.


And audaciously continue supporting your wellness & well-BEing.


Moment by moment. 

Breath by breath.


Journal With Me

If you are ready to go deeper, reflect on:

  • What emotion am I currently resisting?

  • Where am I over-owning what is not mine to carry?

  • What boundary or decision would honor my highest and best right now?

  • What does “doing my best” truly look like in this season — not in theory, but in lived practice?


Write without editing yourself.


Healing does not require perfection. 

It requires presence, ownership, and the courage to choose again.


And remember…


Have The Audacity To BE The First To Put You 1st… In All Ways & Always.
